  Parenting Class 

The Parent Education classes teach parents ways to deal with everyday situations at home -- in the ways that we do here at school. 

We will teach you  the simple, easy to use methods of dealing with the child in a way that increases self worth in the child and uses natural and logical consequences to replace rewards and punishments, which, by the way, do not work in the long run and can produce many unwanted behaviors down the road when these children hit the teen age years!

Some of what will be included is:

• Discipline - what will produce the best results for your child and be the most sane for you as well! [Want to stop yelling, threatening, hitting? Well, you can. And still have your child do the things they need to do

• Encouragement - the beauty and ease of it. Once you understand it, you will wonder why you didn't learn this earlier because it works so well.

• Why order and scheduling is the best and how to make it work for you and not against you.

• How to use words to build self esteem.

• How to talk so your kids will listen - really listen - to you.

• How to listen so your kids will talk to you!

• What to expect and what is too much to expect.

• Learning - How to enhance the already driving nature of your child to learn. Learning doesn't JUST happen at school. It happens every day, every moment. But what are they learning, is the question.

• Time - Why taking time for you is vital in parenting.

• Communication - How building your own communication skills will teach your child more than words. You will learn how to express frustrations before they become volcanoes!

• Listening is a skill. One that not many actually understand how to do. Here you will learn how to do that...really do that!

• Obnoxious behaviors & what to do - You will learn why your children do certain things that drive you crazy ... AND how you can use it to your advantage.

• You will learn HOW children LEARN. And you will learn how to help your children learn to read via the Spalding method.

• You will come to understand what a SENSITIVE PERIOD is in a child and how to use it in such a way that enhances your child's ability to learn at amazing speed because it is WHEN they are READY to learn.

THIS IS WHAT MONTESSORI IS ALL ABOUT. Parents working with knowledge can make THE difference.

This class runs 6 to 8 weeks and is one evening per week, lasting 2 hours per class. Call or email for the dates & cost of the next class and to register.
