  Montessori Training Center of Utah 

Course Objectives

  • Prepare for adults to teach children ages 2 ½ to 5 years old using Montessori principles.

  • Prepare adults for the task of helping children develop to the fullness of their individual human potential through the Montessori materials.

  • Training in the use of Montessori equipment.

  • The study in depth contemporary Montessori philosophy and practice at the primary level, as it applies to the child and directing in programs offering education based on the Montessori goals of education.

Course Schedule

  • Classes are generally offered throughout the year and each student begins the program on an individual basis, joining any existing groups at the current point in the training program and continuing the program through to completion. Students may begin at any point of the program as each student works through said program at their own individual pace, with 10 months being the minimum time to comply with all requirements for certification and allowing students any additional time to complete all requirements necessary for certification.

  • Time is scheduled for presentation of the Montessori materials by the instructor.

  • Times throughout the day are set for trainees to write notes, practice, and work on other course work.

  • Time is scheduled for pass off of materials by an instructor after written notes are approved.

  • Interactive discussion classes are scheduled throughout the year.

  • Students attend the scheduled Emotional Intelligence programs as part of their course work.

Children are precious and the Montessori method is specifically designed to "honor the needs of the child" and to prepare an environment in which the child can learn in the ways that "nature" determined and set for the child.
