What will matter most in the end - what you know….OR HOW YOU USE IT?
Well, obviously, the latter. None of us were adequately taught how to make life what we want it to be...sweet, full, deep and rewarding, either inside of us or with those around us.
Unless you have the know-how or the tools to deal with that voice that speaks inside of each of us, you know, the one that says:

"...I should have done _____."

"...I shouldn't have done ____."
-
"...I'm not smart enough."
-
"...I can't figure this out."
-
"...They're smarter, better, prettier, more capable, etc."

"...I'm not good enough."
-
"...I'm a bad mom, dad, etc."
-
"...Give up, you'll never ____"
...then life can be much less than sweet!
When that voice speaks, then emotions, feelings inside us, can swamp us, making life much more difficult. Feelings cause chemicals to dump into our bodies and now we have to deal with all that! Feelings can be our friend, our guide, if we know how to deal with them...AND we can learn HOW TO TALK TO OURSELVES, in ways that are STRONG, RESILIENT, in short, HEALTHY - and bring us JOY, PEACE, CALM QUIET RESOLVE - even in difficult situations.
THAT'S THE GOOD LIFE.
THIS IS EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE!
Unless you know how to express your dissatisfaction with situations at home, work, LIFE, then it just gets worse. Unless you know how to talk to others hear "what you really want" [and that's all being upset, angry, unhappy is - just wanting something really sweet, good, wonderful] then you are STUCK with what you DON'T WANT!
We can learn how to "talk" in ways that bring HARMONY, PEACE, JOY, HAPPINESS, even in these moments. THIS IS EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE!
Most of us don't know how to react to others that are upset with us, except to DEFEND, DENY, JUSTIFY ourselves, which just intensifies what the other is feeling...making it WORSE!
We CAN learn how to deal with the feelings of others that are less than happy - towards us - in ways that bring PEACE, JOY, LOVE. THAT'S GOOD NEWS, isn't it?
THIS IS EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE!
A huge part of what our goal here is at Montessori, is to arm YOU, our parents, with these tools...so that you can BE ALL YOU CAN BE, HAVE THE JOY, PEACE, LOVE, JOY….using tools at home with your spouses, children, bosses, parents, neighbors, etc, so that you can BE THE MODELS that you must be. Children don't hear what we say, THEY MODEL WHAT WE DO & ARE!
We want to arm you with the "real" tools that WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF YOUR CHILD IN THE LONG RUN!
